Fatal High-Speed Highway Crash Near Purvanchal Expressway Zero Point Leaves One Truck Driver Dead, Another Critically Injured
In a tragic late-night road accident near Purvanchal Expressway Zero Point in Gosainganj, Lucknow, truck driver Sonu (29) from Amroha died on the spot after a speeding truck rammed into a stationary broken-down vehicle. Another driver was critically injured and trapped in the cabin, later rescued and hospitalized. Police have sent the body for postmortem.
According to details, at around 11:30 PM, a truck had broken down near the Zero Point area of the Purvanchal Expressway and was parked along the roadside. The driver, identified as Sonu (29), a resident of Amroha, was standing behind his vehicle inspecting the mechanical fault when tragedy struck.
A second truck, moving at an extremely high speed, approached the location and violently rammed into the stationary broken-down truck from behind. The impact was severe and immediate, resulting in Sonu suffering fatal injuries on the spot.
Following the collision, the driver of the second truck became severely injured and was trapped inside the steering cabin due to the force of the impact. Police personnel rushed to the scene shortly after receiving information and carried out a difficult rescue operation to extricate the injured driver. He was subsequently transported to a nearby hospital, where his condition remains critical.
The body of the deceased driver, Sonu, was recovered from the scene and sent for postmortem examination by the authorities. Police have completed initial formalities and ensured the injured driver is receiving urgent medical treatment.
The incident highlights the extreme dangers of high-speed driving on highways, especially in low-visibility or emergency roadside situations, where stationary vehicles become high-risk hazards for oncoming traffic.
